Personal Perspective

"God has blessed me greatly in my ministry but never more so than now. I love serving the
Trinity community as we follow Christ into the Kingdom of love and peace."

— Rev. Sharon Gracen

Rev. Sharon weaves her perspective from her life experience, well-read library, admiration of leading theologians and modern-day “thinkers” and authors, into her sermons. Thus, sermons are informative, interesting, thought provoking, consciousness raising, relevant to the reality of our world, and to the Gospel of the week. Some speak to important concepts that are lived out in our church community and way of life.

A major influence in Rev. Sharon's ministry is French theologian Teillard de Chardin's observation that,

we are not human beings seeking a spiritual experience
but rather spiritual beings having a human experience
.”

As such, we all have within us extraordinary potential to see Christ in others and be Christ for others. The church is that community in which we practice those things. We create community, learn, grow in faith, and minister to others so that all may know God's love.

The church is a place of radical hospitality, seeking to live as if God's kingdom has already come.

Prior to coming to Trinity

Sharon was Vicar of Faith Episcopal Church, Laguna Niguel, California for 6 years. She was Canon Pastor at Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, (American Cathedral) Paris, France from 2001-2004. After being ordained in 2000, she was the Assistant to the Rector at Christ Church Cranbrook, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. In addition to being an ordained priest, Sharon is a classically trained singer (coloratura mezzo soprano).

She is married to Peter Schuller, founder and managing director of a think tank called The Institute of Applied Theology and Science. Peter comes from an Episcopalian family; his great-grandfather, The Rt. Rev. William Lawrence, founded the Church Pension Fund while serving as Bishop of Massachusetts. Sharon has a married daughter and grandson in Ohio and a married son and grandson in Massachusetts.
